Italian officials visit Expo Bureau

Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, yesterday met a delegation led by Beniamino Quintieri, commissioner general of Italy for Shanghai Expo.

Hong thanked him for Italy's early confirmation it will take part in the Expo. Organisers have discussed the design and construction of the Italian national pavilion with Italian officials.

Hong said he hopes the Italy Pavilion will display innovative ideas from the country and its unique character.

Three Italian cities, Milan, Venice and Torino, have submitted cases to the exhibition of Urban Best Practices Area.

Riccardo Sessa, Italian ambassador to China, said the Italian government attached great importance to the Shanghai Expo and will try its best to showcase Italy's rich experiences in city management.

Quintieri said though the Italian cities are not big, citizen all love living there. The country is confident in putting up a successful exhibition of their culture.

Hua Junduo, China's commissioner general for World Expo 2010, also met with the delegation and discussed the details of Italian participation.
